A little while ago we made some fun Moving Eye Halloween Mummies! They were so easy to make and the kids loved them so much that we decided to make a fun PAPER PLATE MOVING EYES CAT CRAFT too.
It’s a really easy paper plate craft to make. The eyes sit on a simple cardboard strip and when you pull or push it, you make the eyes move from side to side.
It really is a lovely interactive cat craft that kids of all ages will enjoy.
We’ve made these as a Halloween black cat craft but honestly it’s a super cute and fun paper plate craft for any time of year.
We painted our cats black but you could make any colour of cat you fancied.
How about some tabby cats or tortoiseshell cats or a cat that’s the same colour as your own pet?
We love paper plate crafts and are always amazed by the versatility of such a simple craft resource.

How To Make Moving Eyes Cat Craft From A Paper Plate
1 – Paint the underside of your paper plate black and let it dry. Once it’s dry cut out two round eye holes. We love our Martha Stewart Punch All Over The Page hole punch and use it in so many different crafts.
2 – Cut out two black triangle ears and two smaller pink triangle inner ears.
3 – Glue the cat’s ears onto the back of the paper plate towards the top.
4 – Twist 3 long pipe cleaners together in the middle to make the cat’s whiskers.
5 – Glue the whiskers onto the cat’s face and add a pom pom nose.
6 – Give the cat a happy smile with your white Posca Paint Pen.
7 – Cut a long rectangle of white card approx 12 inch by 2.5 inch (30cm by 6cm). Cut two green circles the same size as those you cut out of the paper plate. Draw some black pupils onto the green eyes and then glue them to the middle of the white rectangle.
(Make sure they are spaced the correct distance apart to see through the eye holes in the paper plate.)
8 – Lay the white eye strip across the back of the paper plate so that the green eyes show through the paper plate eye holes. Cut two thin strips of white cardstock, a little longer than the height of the white eye strip. Glue the top and bottom of the thin strips to the back of the paper plate to hold the eye strip in place.
(Make sure you don’t glue the eye strip because it needs to be able to move!)
9 – Now you can have fun with your moving eyes cat craft by pushing and pulling the eye strip from either side to make the cat’s eyes move!
