Create a fun personalized hostess gift serving plate in 2 easy steps to take to your next party or cookout!
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.
I don’t know about you, but I’m often stumped when it comes to hostess gift ideas. I usually end up toting the standard bottle of vino and call it a day. And I also don’t know about you, but I have lost/forgotten my fair share of serving plates that I have taken to parties/cookouts, especially this time of year! These 2 quandaries gave me the best idea for my latest project with my Cricut® Explore Air™ 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Machine Bundle! Instead of worrying about remembering to take back the plate that you used to take your favorite appetizer to a party or BBQ, turn it into double duty and make it a personalized hostess gift!
Personalized Hostess Gift with Cricut Permanent Vinyl
Supplies
- Cricut® Explore Air™ 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Machine Bundle
- Personalized Hostess Gift Plate cut file
- Cricut Premium Permanent Vinyl (I used orange and black but it comes in a zillion colors!)
- Cricut Transfer Tape
- Weeder tool (included in the Cricut Martha machine bundle)
- Plate
Directions
Open the Personalized Hostess Gift Plate cut file in Cricut Design Space. This adorable “Kiss the Cook” cut file is one of the 25 exclusive images that’s included with the Cricut Martha Machine that’s exclusive to Michael’s.
You can adjust the size of your image to fit the size of your plate. I love that Design Space has templates to help with that, so I selected round dinner plate from the templates to appropriately size my image and to create the personalization. Of course you can also add any of your own images as well.
To add the name, I entered the text and then used the curve feature to curve the text to the shape of the plate. Can I get an amen for the curve tool?! Looooove!
Load the Cricut Premium Vinyl onto a standard grip cutting mat. You’ll be in love with how easy this material is unroll and how flat it lays! Turn the knob on your Cricut Martha Machine to Vinyl and proceed with cutting the “Kiss the Cook” image.
Remove the design from the cutting mat and weed away the negative space. The Premium Vinyl has a smooth release technology that makes it a breeze to weed and transfer! Repeat with your personalized text.
Cut a piece of transfer tape to fit over the design and cut. Place transfer tape over the design and smooth. Peel the transfer tape away from the backing.
Position the design onto the plate and gently press around the design to adhere to the plate. Peel back transfer tape.
Repeat steps to apply the personalization to the serving plate.
Now your personalized hostess gift is ready to load with your favorite appetizer or dessert to tote to your next party and you don’t have to worry about getting it back (just place a piece of parchment or cling wrap underneath so that the vinyl doesn’t come into direct contact with the food). 😉 I loaded up on these plates from the dollar store so I’m ready for any upcoming parties.
I’m sure you’re wondering about washing… that was my first question! The new Cricut Permanent Vinyl is water resistant! They don’t claim “dishwasher safe” since every dishwasher is different with different settings, but I washed mine in the dishwasher on the top shelf at regular temperature and it held up like a champ.
What kind of design would you want to receive as a personalized hostess gift serving plate?
