So many you have a hard time keeping succulents alive. It’s ok. It happens. If you have a less than green thumb, it is time to try these hand painted pine cone succulents. This is one of my favorite succulents crafts, and you will be happy to know you can’t kill these beauties. Here is how to get started with your own hand painted pine cone succulents.
Hand Painted Pine Cone Succulents Craft:
Here is what you will need to get started:
– pine cones (find them in bulk here)
– craft paint in assorted shades of green, white
– paint brush
– terra cotta flower pot (find them in bulk for a buck each here)
– small stones and filler such as sand or gravel
– twine
With the exception of the paint, we got everything else we needed from our local dollar store. Hooray for cheap craft supplies! Now let’s get started:
First, paint your flower pot. Of course you don’t have to. You can be a rebel if you choose. We just dry brushed some white paint on to give the pot a rustic look. Set it aside and allow to dry. Next, go ahead and start painting those pine cones. The trick is painting the underside of the pine cone, not just the side you normally see. We used various shades of green to make the pine cone look like an actual succulent. See how we used a light green than made the tips darker green? Glorious, right?
While your pine cones dry, you can fill the pot with a few rocks (to block the drainage hole) and gravel. This will give your pine cone succulent something to stick to when you place it. Fill it up all the way to the top.
Now, just press your pine cone succulent into the pot. We used a small pot, so we only have room for one. If you use a larger pot go ahead and press all of those pups in there. Can you even handle it? So cute.
Now just add some twine around the top of the flower pot for some extra pow. Your easy pine cone succulent craft is now ready to be displayed. Put it wherever you want. After all, it doesn’t need sun or water. So low maintenance!
I so love how these came out. Cute, easy, so succulenty. This is the perfect prepare for spring craft or just an anytime craft if your heart pitter patters for succulents like mine does.
