DIY Japandi Ikebana – Lagom Made Easy.

DIY Ikebana

Let’s talk about the nordic vibes, another take on the Scandi trend mixed with a touch of Japanese aesthetic and visually pleasing contrast; the hybrid trend, Japandi takes the best from both worlds.

So today we’ll be flirting with a casual approach to the Ikebana arrangement in collaboration with Iittala.

I’ve used the petite but stunning bowl from the Alvar Aalto Collection and as you can see the pressed glass bowl takes a simple floral arrangement to new heights.

So ready to get started?

Flower Frog (pin holder)

Step 1.

Place the flower frog at the bottom of the bowl and place the primary stem at 11 o’clock position on the flower frog.

Step 2.

Now take the secondary stem and place it at 8 o’clock. Make it perfect by leaning it 45-degrees towards your left shoulder.

Step 3.

Place the third and shortest stem at 4 o’clock.

Step 4

Finish your arrangement by adding water to the container. Optional, cover the pin holder with leaves or more flowers.

That’s it! So easy and very fun to practice, so let’s make another one!

The unique flow of the emerald green hue in this glass along with a few botanical stems makes it a show-stopping accent.

This mindful art of my so-called “Japandi Ikebana” expresses poetry, balance and aesthetic appreciation, very much in line with the new hygge, lagom which is quite different than hygge.

There’s a buzz about lagom and one of my friends, Niki Brantmark from MyScandinavianHome has even written a book on how to achieve Lagom in your life. I’m reading it right now, and so far? It OH so good!

    • Dear Dani.
Thank you so very much, Dani, how are you? Yeah, I’m not that skilled at the many schools of Ikebana, so I prefer to make the inspiration simple and approachable:-)
      Wishing you a lovely day,
      best,
      Mette

  5. Love the pink flowers and the green vase. Happy Friday sweety

      Rigtig god jagt,
      mvh.,
      Mette
